Fishing Report – MDNR 06/26/2024

Southwest Lower Peninsula

Muskegon: The salmon action started to pick up for boat anglers. Some large Chinook salmon were caught, with a few over 20 pounds. Most salmon were caught 60 to 100 feet down in 90 to 150 feet of water. Glow spoons, meat rigs and flies were all reported to have been productive. Pier anglers who were casting spoons caught a few freshwater drum.

Grand Haven: Boat anglers found the salmon action to be picking up. Salmon were caught 60 to 120 down in 100 to 160 feet of water. A mix of glow spoons, meat rigs, and flies all worked well. Steelhead action on the pier slowed due to the warmer nearshore temperatures. Anglers were still catching freshwater drum, but the action slowed compared to the previous couple weeks. The larger Chinook salmon were caught on meat rigs and flies. The really early morning and late evening bites were reported to have been the most productive.
