Fishing Report – MDNR 05/29/2024

Southwest Lower Peninsula

Muskegon: The salmon action slowed down, with most Chinook being on the small side. The best action was reported to be 40 to 100 feet down in 70 to 140 feet of water. Green and blue spoons seemed to work best, and the larger Chinook salmon were being caught deeper in the water column on meat rigs and flasher flies. Anglers casting spoons in the harbor caught a few freshwater drum.
South Haven: Pier fishing was on the slow side for steelhead; however, fishing for drum continued to be good. The drum and steelhead were caught using shrimp fished under a bobber. Very few boat anglers made out on the lake this week due to weather.
